Volkswagen Sedric Specifications
So, the most noteworthy thing about VW Sedric concept is the fact that it comes with Level 5 Autonomous capability. It means, the car can fully drive by itself and human intervention is not needed at all. As a matter of fact, taking over is not even an option since Sedric is not equipped with the steering wheel, cockpit, and pedal.
All the occupants need to do is just sit back, relax and let the car handles all the hard work. This concept is an excellent breakthrough in the world of the futuristic autonomous driving car considering another self-driving concept from other automakers we have seen before only has Level 3 Autonomous capability, or 4 at best.
To do its job in driving the passenger around the town safely, this unique autonomous driving concept is equipped with five individual LIDAR which is situated on the roof. Besides, seven cameras and several radar sensors are also placed in various locations on the car. According to reports, this self-driving system will be used on Volkswagen group’s new driverless cars that will be launched after the end of this decade.
Besides the autonomous driving capability, the design of Sedric concept is also worth noticing. The mono box shape of the car is definitely out of the box, and at first glance, the exterior looks like a caterpillar. But let’s put the outer look inside because the real magic lies inside the cabin.

Since Sedric is a driverless car, comfort certainly becomes the number one priority. As a result, the cabin of this 4-seater car is designed like a very comfortable lounge. It is also very spacious, thanks to the mono box shape. The windshield is transformed into a big OLED screen with augmented reality, and it can display various entertainment options to pamper the occupants.
The company also said that Volkswagen Sedric would not only be a car that takes you from one point to another. The occupants can also talk to the car, and the car will be their personal assistant. The occupants can tell Sedric where they want to go or from which way they want to get to the destination.
Through the OLED screen, Sedric will give information regarding current traffic, driving time and many others. After the passengers have arrived at the destination, they can tell Sedric to find a parking lot and even send it to fetch other passengers.
Powertrain, electric range
In the drivetrain department, Volkswagen Sedric concept definitely will be fully electric. It comes with skateboard-like chassis that houses the motors and lithium ion battery pack, similar to what Tesla has. It is reported that Sedric will generate at least 134 bhp and will have 250 miles electric range.
