Volkswagen I.D. Buzz – New Volkswagen Microbus Concept. Just recently, there was something interesting happened at Detroit Motor Show. The new Volkswagen Microbus has been revealed. This advanced 4-wheel drive features retro style that will be starting on sale in 2022.
The new Volkswagen ID Buzz steals the stylistic inspiration from the first Volkswagen Microbus that was launched in 1950. Instead of using gasoline, this car comes as a hybrid car which means it is an electric car. Just like a normal Microbus, it features one-box concept to offer to seat for eight people which are a very great deal.
Volkswagen I.D. Buzz Specifications
The new VW ID Buzz is a new form of sophisticated electric microbus. The overall length of this microbus is 4941 mm with 1963 height and 1976 width. This size is taller and wider compared to the Budd-e concept shared by Volkswagen previously. The new upcoming Volkswagen ID Buzz is the second among five different electric models developed by this manufacturer.
It follows the previous 4-seat ID hatchback that was recently revealed last year at the Paris Motor Show. As the next concept of the electric car from VW, this ID Buzz is also rumored to be stealing the style of crossover SUV and sports car at once. Will be started in 2020, the new big electric car from Volkswagen will completely be a new vehicle architecture.
On the side, the microbus offers the multitude of various seating layouts. Just like typical microbus, it offers two separate spacious luggage compartments on the rear and the front. Basically, it is lengthened version of the new MED platform from Volkswagen.
Engine – Volkswagen I.D. Buzz
According to officials from Volkswagen, this new upcoming VW ID Buzz will feature two electric motors. One electric motor is within rear axle assembly while the other motor is mounted within the car’s short nose section. With this engine arrangement, the car is able to run with 4-wheel drive capability. Clearly, it is different than the rear-wheel drive that only features one electric motor placed at the rear.
Each of the available electric motors can deliver up to 201 bhp. So when the two motors are combined, it can deliver up to 369bhp. This engine performance is claimed by the manufacturer to be able to allow the car to reach 62 mph from 0 mph within just 5 seconds. Well, that is definitely a high acceleration. And the manufacturer also limits the maximum speed of 100 mph only in order to protect the battery charge.
