2018 Opel Insignia Country Tourer. (Previous series of Country tourer shown here). Opel Insignia Grand Sport was officially unveiled early December last year. And, it will be ready to hit dealerships this summer. The Grand Sport is not the only new model Opel has under its sleeve because the automaker is also currently preparing Insignia Sport Tourer. After the station wagon, Opel will continue completing its Insignia lineup by launching Insignia Country Tourer.
The Grand Sport has not even arrived in the market, so it is still a long way until Opel and Vauxhall will give us a glimpse of what the Country Tourer will look like. But if you are really curious and can’t wait until the automaker finally is generous enough to unveil the estate, you can take a look at a very well made rendering of Country Tourer.
2018 Opel Insignia Country Tourer Specifications
Made by a pixel artist, Remco M (rmcardesign.com/). Of course, just like any unofficial renderings out there, Remco M’s creation is merely a speculation. But the artist takes some elements from the Sports Tourer revealed by some spy shots. As a result, it is not impossible that this rendering could have some similarities with the real car later.
In Remco M’s rendering, we can clearly see that the adventurous Country Tourer bears plenty of resemblance with the Sports Tourer. However, we can also notice some different aspects between the two body types with the plastic cladding and higher ground clearance becomes the most noteworthy differences. The rendering shows that the Country Tourer’s ground clearance is around 0.8 inches (20 mm) higher than the other one.
One of the most important visual elements in the rendering is the scuff plate subtly placed on the front fascia. This is one of the elements that we believe will appear in the real production car. This car screams adventure anyway, so Opel definitely will equip the vehicle with sufficient underbody protection panels.
Opel has not spilled any details regarding the powertrain for the new Grand Sport. Consequently, it is very hard to guess what engine will come under the Country Tourer’s bonnet. But we can put our trust to Opel that this Germany automaker certainly will power Country Tourer with the best of the bunch.

Therefore, it is safe to say that a turbocharger will accompany both the diesel and petrol powertrain. Besides, we can also expect the engine to be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission developed by General Motors.
Furthermore, it seems like the Country Tourer could also benefit from the same all-wheel drive system developed by GKN, just like the Grand Sport. Some differences are to be expected, but nothing so significant.
2018 Opel Insignia Country Tourer Release Date and Price
No exact launching date yet for the Country Toure. But, it is rumored that the estate will hit dealerships sometime in 2018. Once it arrives in the market, the car will compete for head to head with the likes of Volkswagen Passat Alltrack.
If Opel can keep the price for the new Country Tourer on the same level with the current model, it will be more appealing to the customers than the Alltrack. In Germany, VW Passat Alltrack is priced €39,550. While, the most basic model of the current Insignia Country Tourer is €32,295.
