Skoda Kodiaq Plug-In Hybrid. Skoda Kodiaq Hybrid Is Set to Launch in 2019. It seems like Skoda is starting to get really serious in venturing to the electrified car market. After Skoda Superb PHEV, this Volkswagen’s sister group confirmed that they would produce another hybrid car. This time, it is the hybrid version of 7-seater Skoda Kodiaq. It is amazing how Skoda’s electrified car will grow from zero to two three years from now despite the company’s late entry into the segment.
2019 Skoda Kodiaq Plug-In Hybrid Specifications
Since Skoda’s main market is in China, Skoda Kodiaq Hybrid will commence sales in China first. If the sales go well, this car will go to Europe as well. Even though 2019 seems a little too late to enter electrified car market, for Skoda it is the best time. That’s because the demand for the hybrid car will be very high in that year. Besides, Skoda is doing well all this time in petrol and diesel market even without some cash flowing from the hybrid car that is currently going up in popularity.
Engine — Skoda Kodiaq Plug-In Hybrid 2019
It seems like Skoda Kodiaq hybrid will borrow VW Passat GTE’s engine just like Skoda Superb. It means 215 bhp 1.4 L TSI turbo petrol unit that delivers 154 HP (156 PS) coupled with an electric motor with 113 HP (115 PS) output. If nothing is changed, power will be sent to the front wheel through 6-speed DSG transmission.
The 0-100 km/h time is 7.6 seconds, and the top speed is 225 km/h (140 mph). It can travel over 50 km (31 miles) in full electric mode. And, the range will increase to 660 miles once the gas engine starts taking over.
The fuel efficiency of Volkswagen Passat GTE is rated at 166 mpg, and the CO2 emission is 39 g/km. While it is possible for Skoda Superb to reach the same efficiency and CO2 emission rate, the case will be different for Skoda Kodiaq hybrid.

Since Kodiaq Hybrid will have the heavier weight and bulkier shape, it consequently cannot be as efficient as VW Passat GTE. But the fuel efficiency and CO2 emission rate will not be too far different. That’s because those two are the keys to competing well in the Chinese market by the time the car is launched.
Skoda Kodiaq Plug-In Hybrid 2019 Price and Release Date
2019 Skoda Kodiaq Hybrid is confirmed to be launched sometime in 2019, but not before Skoda Superb PHEV is released.
