Renault Zoe e-Sport Concept . Renault has just revealed the performance version of its Zoe electric car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed Renault Zoe e-Sport concept, this is the faster and sportier version of the regular Zoe that adapts plenty of Formula E racing technology.
Renault Zoe e-Sport Specifications
This two-seater concept comes with Satin Blue body paint and Renault’s familiar yellow accent. Furthermore, if you take a look closer, you will notice that this Zoe doesn’t have any visible door handles. In exchange of the real handles, ‘open zones’ are available, and the car will open if you tap the area.
In addition to the great exterior colors and hi-tech door opening, Renault Zoe e-Sport Concept also comes with a set of 20 inches wheels and very tinted windows. The exterior is also added with some extra elements to improve aerodynamics such as new front air dam and larger carbon fiber spoiler.
Zoe e-Sport is a performance model. So, it is just right that it comes with very strong tubular steel chassis. Moreover, wider track and dual wishbone suspension are also on the menu to increase safety and help with cornering.
Another noteworthy thing about this sporty electric concept is its weight. It is amazing how its weight is only around 1,400 kg considering the battery pack alone already weighs around 450 kg. This is all thanks to the lightweight materials like carbon fiber and Kevlar used to build the concept.
Furthermore, the cabin also gets some great and sporty features such as rectangular steering wheels and also 2 Recaro bucket seats.
This concept is granted e-Sport title for nothing because it comes with real racing technology. Just like the regular Zoe, Zoe e-Sport Concept will be equipped with a 40 kWh battery. The battery then will power two electric motors, one to drive the front axle, and the other one for the rear.
To maximize energy efficiency, the two electric motors will take advantage of the high capacity permanent magnet. Furthermore, it also adopts Renault’s Formula E water and air cooling system to make sure the battery can always work at the best temperature.

Renault said that the electric drivetrain could generate 456 bhp and 472-pound-feet of torque at 4,300 RPM. Zoe e-Sport is capable of sprinting to 62 mph from a standstill in only 3.2 seconds. That number is impressive, but it is the 0-130 mph time that will make your jaw drop. The French automaker claimed that the car could reach 130 mph from a complete stop in less than ten seconds.
The four-wheel drive system is accompanied with four different drive modes that can be used to control power distribution. The company doesn’t state the front-rear split configuration, but if it has 20:80 front, rear split, it definitely would be awesome.
Renault Zoe e-Sport Release date
According to Renault’s spokesman, this Renault Zoe e-Sport Concept will not be sent into production because it is only developed to show how a performance electric car could be like. Even though Zoe e-Sport will stay as a concept, the company said that it is still built in accordance with FIA’s safety standard and it will still appear in various track events.
