Feature, Exterior, and Interior
This car is a hint for market about this automaker styling design for the next few years. In this Peugeot Onyx concept, we will find an extraordinary double-bubble roof with two NACA ducts and three lines rear lights that look like claw marks. The car bodywork is made of carbon fiber finished in black, and this car weighs only around 1,100 kg. There is on spoiler at the booth, but this car gets carbon fiber floor that creates downforce and grip.
The door and front fender are finished with the single layer of unfinished copper. It is expected to get patina over the years. Roof panel and windows are made of acrylic, offering the bright look inside and outside. Meanwhile, the interior of new Peugeot Onyx is striking as well. Most of it is made of carbon fiber with dashboard and center console are made of recycled newspaper. You can literally see the snippets and ink of the text.
Headlining and seats are finished with boiling wool felt, and it is recyclable too. The center console houses lightsaber-esque milled aluminum climate control that features blown crystal reservoir with actual liquid. Another compartment on it contains fragrance as well.
Powertrain, Engine – Peugeot Onyx
This new 2017 Peugeot Onyx is powered by twin-turbocharged 3.7 liters of the V8 diesel engine and electric motor inherited from 908 Hybrid4 LeMans car. And, it can produce 600 hp. That is backed by a set of lithium ion battery generating 80 hp of power output boost.
This car is estimated to sprint to 62 mph in less than three seconds. The engine is mated with the six-speed sequential transmission. Peugeot Sport develops the whole powertrain and suspension technology.
Peugeot Onyx Price and Release Date
Pricing on this car is unknown and unannounced during the debut. Perhaps, this is due to Peugeot intentions to keep it a concept. This car was built to make an appearance on this week 2016 Paris Motor Show event only. There is no confirmation if this concept will make it to production level.
The concept is brilliant while this car looks totally amazing and appealing. The whole controversies on its materials are very attractive. The concept needs some revisions due to pedestrians safety regulations, though, but you should hope Peugeot Onyx comes to production level too.
