Nikola One Hydrogen Truck — Nikola is finally officially revealed the production version of its newest hydrogen powered truck. The vehicle is named Nikola One, and it is dubbed as the most advanced semi-truck ever built in the world.
Nikola One takes pride in its super impressive range of 1,200 miles, thanks to its hydrogen fuel cell system and advanced battery pack. It is also confirmed that Nikola will partner up with Ryder to distribute, sell and provide service and warranty for the truck.
Nikola One Hydrogen Truck Specifications
The new Nikola One has a body of a lorry on the rear but with a face of an RV which consequently makes this truck looks very distinctive and unique. Inside, this massive class 8 truck has components and technologies that simply don’t exist in other truck.
First of all, it will attract buyers with its smart dashboard which is capable of finding the shortest route for the driver. Hence an excellent way to save energy. Furthermore, due to its huge size, this truck can accommodate two full-size bed, refrigerator along with the freezer, microwave, and even a 40” 4K TV.
Nikola One is equipped with the high density lithium-ion battery that is capable of generating 746 kW (1,000 HP) and 2,700 Nm (2,000-pound feet) of torque. With this advanced battery system, a single charge can provide up to 1,200 miles of full electric range to the truck.
Since the battery needs hydrogen fuel cell to be recharged, the current biggest challenge for this truck. And, for all hydrogen powered vehicles for that matter—is to find a hydrogen refuel station which is still very rare now.
But if you are interested in buying this new Nikola One Hydrogen Truck truck, you don’t have to worry about this. That’s because Nikola is currently planning to build hundreds of fuel stations so the customers can recharge their truck on the go. The construction will be started in 2018, and by the time the truck is launched, probably in 2020. About 364 hydrogen fuel systems will be available across US and Canada.
