Citroen E-Berlingo Multispace . Citroen recently unveiled the newest addition to its electric car and van lineup. This time, it is the all-electric version of its passenger-friendly MPV, E-Berlingo Multispace.
Citroen E-Berlingo Multispace Specifications
Overall, E-Berlingo Multispace looks pretty much the same with its older sibling, E-Berlingo. However, since the Multispace is set as a more passenger-friendly version, the new car gets an additional row seat on the rear, replacing the loading bay in E-Berlingo. To match its cabin layout, the 7-seater MPV now gets extra side and rear window. Because of the additional row on the rear, the boot space is reduced to 675 L. However, if the rear seat is folded flat, the car will still have spacious boot space of 3,000 L.
The new fully electric MPV also gets plenty of new techs on the cabin. One of the most noteworthy is the Thermal Protection System which allows the owner to preheat or cool the cabin. It can even be done before the driver enters the car since the system can be controlled remotely via smartphone. In addition, the owner can also use their smartphone to check the charging level from afar.
Moreover, the car is also graced with a new 7” infotainment system which can be optioned with satellite navigation, Mirror Link, and Bluetooth.
All electric E Berlingo Multispace comes with the same drivetrain as its older sibling. The new MPV is equipped with an electric motor that generates 66 hp and 200 Nm. In charge of powering the motor is two individual battery packs with a total power of 22.5 kWh.
The batteries are placed in the subframe of the rear axle, one in each side. The battery placement is certainly not random. The two battery packs are intentionally mounted in the subframe of the rear axle to lower the car’s center of gravity. As a result, the car will move with better stability.
If the battery is charged with 16 A or Type 2 plug, it will take approximately 8 hours to fill the battery until full. Meanwhile, charging with the domestic 3-pin plug will take two hours longer. If owners want to charge the battery faster, they can plug the car to D/C Rapid charging system. With the rapid charging system, the battery can be charged to 50 percent in only 15 minutes. Keep charging for another 15 minutes and 80 percent of the battery power will be recharged.
This MPV has 170 km (160 miles) of range, which is very suitable for European market since people in this region mostly drive 100 km per day. Besides, to prove the quality of the powertrain, Citroen gives 8-year/100,000 km warranty for the battery and 5-year/50,000 km for the electric drivetrain.
