2018 Lucid Air Electric Sedan Unveiled, Boasts 400 Miles of Range and 1,000 HP.
Lucid Motor, previously known as Atieva, has unveiled the concept of its awesome electric sedan which is called Lucid Air. All-new Lucid Air is definitely not just another project since the company specifically designs it to rival none other than Tesla Model S.
Lucid Air Specifications
In charge of design and styling is Mazda ND MX-5 designer, Derek Jenkins. It is reported that the upcoming Lucid Air 2018 car will be launched as luxury 4-seater. However, just like Tesla, the possibility of 5 and 7-seat is not ruled out.
Since Chinese market is one of the most important markets for Lucid Air, executive rear seat option is to be expected. While the standard version can accommodate three rear passengers, the executive with luxurious armchair style is enough for two rear passengers. Furthermore, the car also features panoramic roof and large center touch console.
Engine, Electric Range — Lucid Air 2018
Power comes from a 100 kWh battery pack provided by Samsung. Which is giving the car 1000 HP and 400 miles of full electric range. It is reported that with this kind of power. The car can sprint from a standstill to 62 mph in around 2.5 or 3 seconds.
The car is also equipped with two electric motors. The One to send power to the front wheels while the other to the rear, making it an AWD electric car.
A battery pack with 100 kWh capacity is already powerful enough. But Lucid promises that a 130 kWh battery pack will also be available in the near future.
In addition to the incredible power and speed, New Lucid Air also will come with autonomous driving. To support this feature, the car is equipped with 2 long and 4-short range radar, 2 long and two short range lidar, driver monitoring camera, three front cameras with the different view as well as 5 active surround view cams.
2018 Lucid Air Price and Release Date
The production of Air 2018 will be started in 2018 at the company’s factory in Arizona. Even though the delivery time for this $100,000 electric car has yet to be announced, interested buyers can start the order now. 255 units will be built in the first batch of production.
For those interested in reserving one of the first 255 units, $25,500 worth of deposit is required. To make everything more interesting, Lucid will pack the first 255 Air with especially distinguished features that will set the cars apart from the next batches of production.
If you think a standard Air without unique features is enough for you, $25,500 of deposit will be sufficient to reserve the car. But, the production will only be started after the first 255 cars are ready to be delivered to their respective owners.
