At least that’s what we can see from the prototype.
2018 Kia Ceed Specifications
Spy shots, Interior design
From the prototype, we can see that 2018 KIA Cee’d compact car is larger than the current model. And, it comes with the slightly longer door. The prototype is densely camouflaged. But, it is not that difficult to see that it gets the same window line with Hyundai i30 that was launched in last Paris Motor Show.
As a matter of fact, 2018 Ceed have more similarity with i30 than just a simple window line. The platform, engine, technology, some interior components, and safety system in third generation Cee’d are also borrowed from i30.
However, the new Ceed 2018 not going to be a mere carbon copy of i30. The Kia car comes with sportier front bumper, sharper headlights, and also different tailgate. Furthermore, Cee’d also get Kia’s signature tiger nose grille which will be one of the components that distinguish this car from i30.
Engine Specifications — 2018 Kia Cee’d
2018 Kia Cee’d shares the same engine lineup with 2017 Hyundai i30. This lineup consists of a naturally aspirated 1.4L engine with 98 HP (73.3 kW) and 99-pound feet (134 Nm) of torque as well as 1.0 L 3-cylinder engine with 118 HP and 125-pound feet (175 Nm) of torque.
The latter is the smallest unit in the lineup and is also used in the outgoing Cee’d. The third unit, a 1.4 L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 138 HP and 179-pound feet of torque, is the newest powertrain in i30 and could join 2018 Cee’d engine lineup as well.
For customers that prefer diesel powertrain, a 1.6 L diesel engine, still from Hyundai i30 will also be available. The new diesel engine will be offered in three power levels: 94 HP, 109 HP and 134 HP (100 kW). That Power will be sent to the front wheels via a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional 7-speed automatic dual-clutch gearbox.
2018 Kia Ceed Release Date and Price
It is the first time 2018 Kia Ceed is spotted testing so it is very unlikely that this car can make it to 2017 Geneva Motor Show. So, probably the car will finally be unveiled in the fall during 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show or maybe even later in 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
