Hongqi B-Concept Shows Chinese Luxury
Hongqi B-Concept — First produced in 1958 only for high-ranking party elite, Hongqi, one of the most historic and luxury cars in China, revealed Hongqi B-Concept at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. While the name has endured and is used for the transport of party elite and foreign dignitaries, the luxurious and grand design has been kept. The B-Concept is a world-class design study though this looks like a mix between Hyundai and Audi.
Hongqi B-Concept Review Specs
Many say that this Hongqi B-Concept car previews the design of a large sedan and will likely be positioned between the Hongqi H7 and Hongqi L5. Therefore, this is probably not a coincidence if the look of a sports four-door resembles BMW M5.
Design and Look
The design of this Hongqi B-Concept car has some Lincoln touches but the original product will be based on the platform of the current Audi A6L sedan. From the front, there is a large, hexagonal grille. Apart from suicide doors, the front overhang is small while the rear is big. It looks like the classic proportions seen in K900.
Almost similar to the latest AMG models, C63S, there is a silver splitter at the bottom which creates large air intakes. By connecting the second intake in the middle, the Hongqi B-Concept car appears more muscular and sporty without having to look bigger. Meanwhile, Audi connections may not only for show only.
Hongqi also carries the popular L A6 models made by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. So, most likely, this version ends on the same platform with the A6 long wheelbase.
Hongqi B-Concept Features, Interior and Exterior
The interior is even more amazing. Inspired by the Knight Rider series, it features the U-shaped steering wheel and is equipped with a digital display in the center. It looks cool though it cannot pass the crash test regulations. Screens scattered around the place. It will tell you the temperature outside, news, and notification of your social media.
With the white surface engaging with dark wood and four separate seats, it is strictly a four-seater, with a large center console that runs through the cabin; this is a remarkable work of art. All of this comes with a Bose audio system with speakers built into the chair.
A very cool idea is also embedded at the rear passengers; Hongqi adds a set of traditional tea to restore balance inside regardless of the high-tech space in the front. The rear-seat passengers of Hongqi B Concept can enjoy their time either by stretching their legs or having a delicious tea break. Not a bad idea from a nearly 60 years old brand.
