Exterior and Features
The upfront of this 2018 Holden Commodore Sportwagon, at a glance, may seem nearly identical to its liftback sedan version but after further inspection, there are many differences on the rear side of the wagon. Featuring a unique shaped tailgate which is a stark contrast to the more subtle-looking roof spoiler, this new Sportwagon has a design that is incredibly attractive.
Take a look at its trapezoidal exhausts and its chrome window blade which is placed along the bottom of its A-pillar, roofline and flowing down into its tail light cluster – and let’s not forget about the square tail lights and the windscreen-to-tailgate length silver roof rails. If that is not what sophistication is, I don’t know what is.
In addition to its sophisticated and modern design, the 2018 Holden Commodore Sportwagon is also equipped with a large number of exciting features. One of the features that is worth noting is one that enables us to open the sports wagon’s tailgate with a swift kicking gesture.
Okay, “kicking” is a bit too extreme, just simply move your leg, in a swift, sweeping motion, right in the highlighted area along the bottom of the Sportwagon and voila! Other features that the 2018 Holden Commodore Sportwagon has are the latest adaptive cruise control technology, head up display, rear cross traffic alert program, lane-departure-warning and lane keep assist, as well as autonomous emergency braking system. Fascinating, indeed.

Impressive! But what about the engine?
While design and features of a car matter, nothing can trump the importance of the engine simply because it is the soul of a vehicle. The same can be said for the 2018 Holden Commodore Sportwagon. Luckily, this new Commodore wagon is also equipped with a remarkable engine.
It may not boast the Commodore’s standard V-8, but the company ensures there’s no drawback to it – quite the contrary, it benefits the model as it’s 200 kg lighter. The 2018 Holden Commodore Sportwagon has a 2.0 liter, V-6 four cylinder turbo diesel and four cylinder turbo petrol with a nine speed AWD. This AWD is also equipped with a remarkable torque-vectoring system to ensure a maximized handling and performance.

Offered in three different settings such as sport, tour, and standard – the 2018 Holden Commodore Sportwagon is scheduled to be shown first time to the public at the Geneva Motor Show on the 7th of March, 2018 and will be released to the market for sale in Australia sometime in 2018.

Now in 2016, we finally hear the good news that the next generation of Holden Commodore Sportwagon is going to hit the market very soon. The new car was spied doing a final testing several days ago, and it definitely looks good. This Sportwagon is a successor to Opel Insignia, and it features some significant improvement both in the visual and powertrain. Even though Opel Insignia is no longer produced in Australia, this model is not dead yet because the production is still continued in its Victoria ground.

Engine Changes, Spec:
The particular powertrain in Holden Commodore Sportwagon is not confirmed yet. However, it is almost certain that this car will not get a V8 engine. Instead, it will be powered with small capacity turbocharged diesel and petrol engine. The standard version will have front wheel drive. Meanwhile, the higher-end model will have all wheel drive as well as an upgraded engine that can produce more than 206 kW. While the basic version will be called Holden Commodore Sportwagon, it is still unclear whether the higher end model will be named Commodore Sportwagon SS or keeps its Opel OPC name.
Even under the camouflage, it is not difficult to see the sleek lines and the muscular sides of this brand new Holden Commodore Sportwagon. The nose and most of the front side of this car will remind us to Opel Monza while the C-pillar is accentuated with bold chrome.
Meanwhile, the cabin is heavily influenced by Monza design. Even though the interior design is very simple, but it still looks exquisite and modern. Moreover, this car also comes with the latest My Link infotainment system, digital dashboard and also OnStar Wi-Fi.

It is possible that the actual car will get even more improvement than what we see here. The significant visual update is necessary because the competition for this type of car in Australia is really fierce right now. This Sportwagon will have head to head battle with Volkswagen Passat, Mazda 6 and Ford Mondeo. Giving more visual update is the only way Holden can compete with other wagons from those popular manufacturers.
2018 Holden Commodore Sportwagon Price and Release Date:
New Holden Commodore Sportwagon 2018 will be introduced in Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. It will be launched in Australia a year later, probably in early 2018. It is possible that Holden will also produce the crossover version.
