The Ferrari 488 Spider Is Transformed into J50 Limited Edition. Ferrari is the best when it comes to creating a special edition model. This time, the Italian sports car manufacturer strikes again with its newest creation, Ferrari J50 Limited Edition.
This car is produced to celebrate the automaker’s 50th anniversary in Japan. To ensure its exclusivity and excellence, the car is specially created by Ferrari’s Special Project Division and the production will be limited to 10 units only. Ferrari has not said anything regarding the availability. But, judging from its name, it seems like all 10 of the limited edition car will not go outside Japan.
Ferrari J50 Specifications
Ferrari J50 is based on 488 Spider hence some similarities between the two models are to be expected. However, unlike the car it is based on, New J50 is not a full convertible. Instead, the removable roof is limited to the area right above the cockpit. As a result, the Targa roof doesn’t interrupt the distinctive styling of the car.
Besides 488 Spider, J50 also borrows some styling cues from other Ferrari’s iconic models such as FXX K, F40, and F50. For instance, the limited edition car has more aggressive styling than 488 Spider thanks to the more pointed nose and sleek headlights, adopted from the FXX K race car. Moreover, the nose and body are graced by the black graphic that can easily remind us to Ferrari F40 and F50.
Being a super sports car that it is, the overall styling is specially created to improve the performance of the car. On the front, the radiators are put closer so the bumpers can be more aerodynamic. Moving on, we can notice that the windshield header rail is set lower, allowing more airflow go over the rear spoiler. As a consequent, the car naturally produces more downforce. Meanwhile, the cabin will be graced by new interior trim.
No matter how J50 looks like on the outside, it is still 488 Spider at heart. Consequently, it will come with the same 3.9 L-twin turbocharged V8 engine. But to keep things interesting, the power output in J50 is bumped by 20 HP. While 488 Spider delivers 660 HP, J50 steps up the game by producing 680 HP.
Up to this time, Ferrari still doesn’t want to mention how much the limited edition J50 will be priced. But since this is a Ferrari we are talking about, and a special edition one for that matter, it seems like buyers will still line up no matter how spectacular the price will be.
