Bentley Introduces Luxurious Fully Electric EXP 12 Speed 6e Concept. Bentley brings a luxurious EV concept to this year’s Geneva Motor Show, and it is called EXP 12 Speed 6e. Even though the name seems weird, but every single letters and word contain a meaning and hint of how the car will be. EXP turns out to be a short form of Experimental, which can also mean concept in layman terms.
Meanwhile, 12 is included in the naming because this is the 12th concept ever created by the British automaker, with the first one dated back to 1919. And as for the Speed 6e, it is pretty self-explanatory. This concept is a rendition of Bentley Speed 6 concept, but this time it comes as a fully electric version. This drop-top version of Speed 6 is developed to show how Bentley envisions a luxurious electric touring could be.
Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e Specifications
The design of Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e is pretty much similar to Continental GT concept that was spotted testing several weeks ago. It features the automaker’s signature mesh grille, but it is added with the smoked finish to distinguish it with the conventional power model. Chrome trims are also spotted in the various area of the exterior. Furthermore, there is also a large “6” illuminates inside the grille when the car is moving. It seems very nice, but also very unlikely to make it to the production version.
The luxury treatment continues in the cabin. It is covered with high-quality leather, more chrome trims, large OLED display and center console with glass element.
The British automaker doesn’t reveal too much regarding the electric powertrain, but they claimed that the car would be able to make a trip from London to Paris or Milan to Monaco in only a single charge. It means, Speed 6e could have around 180 to 280 miles of range, which is not bad at all.
Since this is a luxurious car, the future owner doesn’t want to deal with a mess that is the charging cable. Therefore, Bentley equips this concept with an inductive charging system so filling up the batteries will be very comfortable and convenient.
Moreover, Bentley has yet to say anything regarding the expected power figure of this concept. However, the company promises that it will be able to generate the effortless amount of torque, just like the current eight and twelve-cylinder lineup.
Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e Release Date and Price
If you are interested in buying this car, you will need to be very patient. Before releasing EXP 12 Speed 6e to the market, Bentley still has plenty of homework to do. Bentayga will be Bentley’s first step of electrification, and it will be launched sometime next year.
After that, the internal combustion powered Speed 6 will be the next in line to be released to the market. It means the electric version of Speed 6 will probably arrive in the market by the end of 2018 at the earliest. It is hard to predict what Speed 6e’s fate will be once it is launched.
Rolls Royce has launched something similar like this, but it didn’t perform well in the market. But maybe Speed 6e will have a better fate considering both cars targeting different customer base.
