After Vantage, Virage, Vanquish and Vulcan, this time Aston Martin names its new supercar Valkyrie.
Aston Martin Valkyrie Specifications
Just like usual, Aston Martin always chooses something with significant meaning to call its cars, and the same goes for this one. According to the brand’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, Valkyrie, which means chooser of the slain in Norse, perfectly describes the essence of the performance, engine, and design of this supercar.
“Aston Martin model names have deep meaning. They need to inspire and excite. To tell a story and enrich a narrative that stretches back some 104-years. The Aston Martin Valkyrie is an incredibly unique car that demands an equally remarkable name; an uncompromising car that leaves nothing in reserve.
The connotations of power and honor, of being chosen by the Gods are so evocative and so pertinent to a car that only a fortunate few will ever experience,” said Reichman.
Every single part of this Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar is developed and sourced by prominent names in the automotive and engineering world. The exterior features sensual and elegant curves just like a female figure that is Valkyrie. The amazing exterior is designed by none other than the experienced F1 designer, Adrian Newey.
Aston Martin Valkyrie aims to be as lightweight as possible to help with the aerodynamics, and it is reported that the final weight will be around 2,200 to 2,400 pounds. To make the car lighter, no single piece of steel will be used, and the car will only use carbon fiber monocoque. The lightweight material is created by Multimatic, the same company that builds Ford GT and Aston Martin Vulcan.

To match its otherworldly name, Valkyrie will also have otherworldly performance thanks to a well-developed hybrid powertrain. The 6.5 L V12 engine is developed by Cosworth while the electric powertrain is sourced from Rimac. Together, the V12 engine and electric powertrain are expected to produce around 1,000 HP, a top speed of 250 mph and 0-200 km/h time of only 10 seconds.
Furthermore, the engine will be paired with a 7-speed paddle shift transmission courtesy of Ricardo Engineering. Also, the brakes will be provided by Alcon and Surface Transforms while Bosch will supply the traction control, electronic stability system, and ECU.
Aston Martin Valkyrie Release Date and Price
It has been confirmed that only 175 units of Valkyrie will be built and 25 of them are track-focused models. According to reports, production will begin in early 2019 and deliveries are slated in the same year.
If you are planning to purchase one of the 150 road going models once it is launched, you definitely will be very disappointed because every single of them has been sold. So, for now, let’s just cross our finger and hope the company has a plan to send another batch into production.
