Artega Scalo Superelletra is a Fully Electric Supercar with 1,020 HP. Many superfast electric cars are debuting at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, but Artega Scalo Superelletra is definitely one of the scene stealers. Two years ago at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the German automaker launched Artega Scalo. The concept was not only the successor for the infamous Artega GT, but it also served as a test bed for their upcoming fully electric supercar that is the Scalo Superelletra.
Artega Scalo Superelletra Specifications
The design of this supercar is courtesy of Italian firm Touring Supereleggara, and the designers really did a good job. Every single element in the Scalo Superelletra is on point, right from the paint job, headlights and taillights, even down to the wheel design. Overall, the design bears a lot of resemblance with the original Scalo, and it is clear that the designer wants to stay true to the lines and curves of the original model.
But unlike the design that looks similar to the original, deep under the skin, it is a different story. The powertrain consists of a 120 kWh battery and four electric motors, two sending power to the front wheels and the other two to the rear. Artega claims that this configuration is capable of delivering 1.020 HP and 1,194-pound-feet (1,620 Nm) of torque.
The car can hit 100 km/hour (62 mph) in only 2.7 seconds, and the top speed is 300 km/hour (186 mph). We don’t have any specific number yet for the range, but the German automaker estimated that the car could go as far as 500 km (310 miles) with only a single charge.
The impressive range is possible thanks to the remarkable battery pack designed by Paragon, Germany automotive electronic supplier which is also the parent company of Artega. It is reported that the battery is one of the best regarding energy densities and its fast charging capability can refill the battery to 80% in only 70 minutes. Furthermore, the car can get additional 60 miles of range with only four minutes of charging.
A battery pack with such a huge power certainly will be heavy and take up a lot of space. To shed the total weight of the car, carbon fiber tub and body panels made of lightweight carbon fiber material are used. Artega did not mention how much the car weighs, but they said that the total weight is reduced thanks to the application of lightweight materials.
Unfortunately, the Germany automaker did not show us how the interior looks like. However, they told us that the Scalo Superelletra could adopt the style of McLaren F1’s central driving position. Not only because it is a suitable layout for a supercar that takes pride in its speed, but also to ensure the car can be sold in both left and right handed market without having to make two different versions.
