2020 MINI JCW GP Could Return in 2020. According to John Cooper Works’ chief, Peter Schwarzenbaeur, MINI JCW GP is very likely to make a comeback. He stated in an interview that GP model is necessary for MINI. Furthermore, the previous JCW GP received so much love and good feedbacks from the customers, so it is possible that the same thing will happen again in the future. Only 2000 units of 2013 MINI JCW GP were produced, and only 30 of them were sent to Australia. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed how many units will be built for the new version.
2020 MINI JCW GP Specifications
Exterior, Interior redesign
Due to the success of the previous version, it seems like new 2020 MINI JCW GP will follow the same formula without too many changes. It means we can expect the car to come with adjustable suspension, large brake with extra stopping power, active damper, Recaro sport seat, stripped out the cabin and maybe a set of 17” MINI alloy wheels.
Engine Changes — MINI John Cooper Works GP 2019/2020
The company has not said anything yet regarding its powertrain. However, since new MINI JCW GP is set to be the more hardcore version of the latest MINI JCW, it is very unlikely for the engine in 2013 JCW GP to make a comeback in the new model.
To refresh our memory, the previous JCW GP was powered by 1.6 L turbo direct injected 4-cylinder engine that made 160 kW (218 HP). The 0-60 mph time was rated at 6.1 seconds while the top speed is 150 mph.
Even though it was pretty good and MINI purists praised 2013 JCW GP a lot, it is just not enough. Especially if the new JCW GP 2020 will be dubbed as the most powerful version of 2016 JCW. We cannot forget that 2016 JCW got 2016 Sportiest Car Award from Sport Auto Magazine thanks to the votes from more than 28% readers.

This car is powered by 2L 4-cylinder engine from MINI Twin Power Turbo technology and it delivers 231 HP. So, it is possible that new MINI JCW GP will start from that.
MINI JCW GP 2020 Release Date and Price
If MINI JCW GP indeed makes a comeback, we probably will not see it shortly. Traditionally, GP version is usually launched at the end of the production cycle of a model. And since we will bid farewell to the current hatch in 2019, the new JCW GP will probably make a comeback in 2019 or 2020. More details will likely be launched in 2018 when the prototype is finally tested in Nurburgring.
