2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Spotted Testing. The mid-cycle point of Mercedes-Benz S-Class range is nearing, and it only means one thing. Yes, the famous S-Class will be updated very soon. The first model that will get the highly anticipated update will be the sedan while the coupe will follow soon after.
Since the cabriolet type was just recently introduced as 2017 model and it hasn’t been on the market for too long, it will be the last one to be updated, and maybe it will be unveiled only when the coupe has arrived in the market. But we definitely will not mind waiting longer as the cabriolet has been spotted testing for the very first time. At least now we can predict how the real car will look like when it is finally launched.
2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Specifications
The spy shots don’t reveal too many details, but at least we can know for sure that it will not get any dramatic changes. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is still new anyway so radical updates definitely will engage the owners of the pre-updated cars.
The updates will bring some subtle visual changes that include minor tweaks on both front and rear bumpers. Furthermore, even though it is not shown on the prototype, it is very likely that the car’s head lights and tail lights will get new internal graphics. In addition, we can also expect several new exterior colors and probably more sophisticated alloy wheels.
Meanwhile, for the exterior, it is reported that updated S-Class Cabriolet will get better digital dashboard. Instead of the 2-oversized display, the new car will come with a neater-looking single screen.
Nothing is fixed yet. But, there is a high chance that the new 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet will come with a new engine lineup. The S400 probably will be powered with Mercedes’ brand new inline-6 engine. Meanwhile, an AMG-tuned 4.0 L V8 unit will come under the hood of S500 and S63, replacing the old 4.7 L V8 and twin turbocharged 5.5LV8 respectively.

It is reported that the new engine will generate 460 HP and 750 Nm (553.2-pound-feet) of torque in S500 and 612 HP and 900 Nm (664-pound feet) of torque in S63.
Unlike the first three models, it is almost certain that the 12-cylinder engine in S65 will not be replaced and becomes the only old engine in the new lineup. Even though S65 is not graced with a brand new engine, the 12-cylinder engine will be upgraded to increase fuel economy and also to generate more ponies.
As for the transmission, S65 will be paired to an AMG-tuned 7-speed automatic transmission while S500 and S63 are mated to a new 9-speed transmission. However, while S63 will get the multi-clutch version, S500 will remain with the torque converter.
2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet Release Date and price
NEW 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet sedan will arrive this summer while the coupe follows early next year. As for the cabriolet, the company has yet to say anything, but we can expect it to be unveiled in the first half of 2018, probably at Geneva Motor Show with sales commence soon after.
