2019 Lotus Evora Roadster – (lotus evora 400 shown here). We know that Lotus is currently working on a drop-top variant of the very much loved Evora. As a matter of fact, since Lotus CEO, Jean-Marc Gales announced that the roadster version of Evora is on the way, it has become the British sports car manufacturer’s most anticipated model. The good news is, we can calmly wait until the roadster arrives with some peace of mind because the CEO said in an interview that Lotus Evora roadster will be ready in exactly 22 months.
Since the interview was done in October 2016, it is safe to assume that we can finally enjoy the convertible Evora in August 2018. We still have a long way to go, but Lotus promises to make everything worth it. Furthermore, the company doesn’t rule out the possibility that it might arrive sooner.
2019 Lotus Evora Roadster Specifications
Just like other Lotus models, the new drop-top Evora will be lightweight as well. We don’t know yet how heavy or how quick it will be, but it seems like it will not be heavier or slower than the regular model, exactly like what we wanted. Furthermore, it is reported that Lotus will make the rigidity of the Roadster the priority when developing it. Creating a convertible will require Lotus to chop off the roof. However, the company said that the lack of roof will not pose a problem to the roadster’s rigidity.
Even though Lotus’ sports cars have plenty of loyal followings, they are very well-made and the models—Evora, especially—are commendable, it is not a secret that the company’s finance is not exactly in good shape and the brand is also not that established in North American shore. However, according to Gales, Lotus has positive cash flow since 2016, and they even make profits.
Since Gale took over the company, Lotus has shown a positive development in its financial infrastructure and the company’s resources are being managed carefully. As a result, Lotus can keep continuing developing its light vehicles, which hopefully will help the cars gain more recognition in the US.

As for the Roadster Evora, it has a lot on its plate. Even if Lotus has started progressing financially, the company still needs to increase their sales number, especially in US market and this is the reason why drop-top Evora is developed in the very first place. To reach more customers, Lotus must expand their current portfolio, and the most efficient way to do that is by creating new versions of their existing models. This trick will help the company increase their number of sales without exposing the company to a huge risk since they don’t have to make a big investment.
If everything goes well and Evora roadster becomes a huge hit in the market, Lotus will have adequate funding to develop the new the company’s first ever SUV they have planned to make for quite some time. Since this is Lotus we are talking about, the British automaker definitely will not give us an ordinary SUV. As a matter of fact, we can expect a lightweight SUV that probably will be the lightest in the segment.
