2018 Volkswagen Atlas R-Line . Volkswagen Teased 2018 Atlas with R-Line Exterior Package. 2018 Atlas has not even hit the market yet, but Volkswagen has teased a version of the all-new SL and SEL Atlas trims, dressed in the R-Line exterior package. Volkswagen has made a lot of effort to move on from the diesel emission scandal and this remarkable 3-row SUV is one of them.
Furthermore, as the brand’s most highly anticipated model in 2017, the Germany automaker also uses Atlas to secure more customers in US market, and the R-Line trim definitely will help them achieve that goal. Once the 7-seater SUV hits the market, it will compete for neck and neck with the likes of Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and Toyota Highlander.
2018 Volkswagen Atlas R-Line Specifications
In terms of design, the new 2018 Volkswagen Atlas R-Line gives strong visual upgrade mostly to the exterior but also small yet significant changes updates to the interior. For the exterior, R-Line package gives the car 20” aluminum alloy wheels with twin spoke design, new air intakes on the front bumper and revamped side skirt as well as R-Line badges here and there. In addition, new rear diffuser with glossy black color also contributes to improving the style on the rear.
Meanwhile, on the cabin, the upgrades include stainless steel pedal covers and R-Line steering wheel clip. To match the cool steering wheel and create some harmony inside, the R-Line logo also appears on the infotainment screen.
VW Atlas is based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform. And, the production just recently started in the company’s Chattanooga plant last December. The Atlas R-Line package is intended to give more refreshing visual and premium feeling to the basic Atlas.
As a consequent, there will definitely be no changes on the powertrain, performance, shape or dimension. Speaking of dimension, all-new Atlas is measured at 198.3 inches long, 77.9 inches wide and 69.6 inches in height. It means, Atlas has similar length with its main competitor, 2017 Ford Explorer but narrower and shorter by 1.0 and 0.4 inches respectively.
