2018 Suzuki Vitara Facelift Spotted Testing in Sweden. The fourth generation of Suzuki Vitara first went on sale around two years ago, but now it has been tested for a mid-cycle update. The prototype of the facelifted model was spotted testing in Sweden’s snowy road with very minimum camouflage. Besides some small visual tweaks, it is reported that the updates will also bring plenty of new safety features and drive assistance systems to the popular Suzuki model.
2018 Suzuki Vitara Facelift Specifications
The spy shots show that the camouflage only covers some small parts on the front bumper, which means we can expect a minor refresh on that specific part. But the most noteworthy element of the facelift can be seen in the middle of the lower grille. Even though that part is covered, we can clearly see that a radar sensor is added there, which becomes a very clear sign that driving assistance systems and safety kits are on the menu.
There is no information yet on the list of driving assistance feature that will come to the 2018 Suzuki Vitara Facelift, but it is rumored that autonomous emergency braking is certainly one of them. However, the new driving assistance and safety features probably will not come as standard. To keep the price competitive, it seems like those features will be offered only in higher-end models or with additional costs.
Furthermore, the prototype also sports red projector covers, upper grille with mesh design and also black alloy wheels. All of them are the signature of the Vitara-S, and it indicates that we are indeed looking at the sportier version of the model.

Engine – 2018 Vitara Facelift
There is no news yet on the engine, but it is possible that this mid-cycle update will not touch the powertrain department. It means, 2018 Vitara Facelift could come with the same engine lineup that is a 120 PS naturally aspirated 1.6 L 4-cyilinder engine and a more potent 1.6 DDiS unit. The latter can generate 120 PS and 320 Nm at 1,750 RPM.
Furthermore, since the mesh design on the grille visual elements hints to Vitara-S, we definitely can expect the sporty model to join the lineup as well. In the current version, Vitara-S is powered by a turbocharged 1.4 L 4-cylinder engine. With the addition of Boosterjet technology, it is capable of producing 140 ponies (103 kW) and 162-pound feet (220 Nm) of torque, which enough to send the car sprinting from a standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 10.2 seconds.
The 0-62 mph time is the same no matter which transmission is paired with the engine. Speaking of transmission, 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, but an optional 6-speed automatic transmission is also available. In addition, the all-wheel drive system is also standard, but customers can also choose to equip it with optional four driving mode options.
2018 Suzuki Vitara Facelift Release Date and PRICE
It seems like the 2018 Suzuki Vitara Facelift is still in its early stage of development, so maybe it will not arrive on the market until early next year or at least by the end of this year. This car definitely will undergo more testing, so let’s expect more spy shots of the prototype in the upcoming months.
