2018 Subaru Legacy Gets Ready to Debut at 2017 Chicago Auto show. Subaru has just unveiled the refreshed Subaru Legacy ahead of its debut at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show. The sixth generation Legacy was introduced back in 2015. And, this mid-cycle update brings some refreshing things to this all-wheel drive sedan. There are no significant changes. But, the small tweaks on the exterior and plenty of new technologies and safety equipment inside the cabin are enough to make the new 2018 Legacy looks more appealing than its competitors.
2018 Subaru Legacy Specifications
For the new 2018 Subaru Legacy exterior, the front-end gets the most update, and it now looks a lot sportier. The hexagonal shaped grille is now bigger, and the air intakes are also made lower and broader. Moving to the rear, we will notice that the rear bumper gets a new and more stylish design and it now comes with integrated tailpipes.
In addition to the refined front and rear end, the refreshed Legacy also gets new wheel design as well as two brand new exterior color paints—Crimson Red Pearl and Magnetite Gray Metallic.
The exterior looks great, and all but the real deal is in the cabin. 2018 Legacy gets plenty of new technology, and unique ones are Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and also Starlink integration. Furthermore, a 6.5” multimedia screen is also added to the list of features, replacing the old 6.2” screen. If that screen is not big enough for you, you can opt for larger 8” screen that becomes the replacement for the 7” one.
In addition to the big multimedia screen and various smartphone integrations, the cabin is also graced with plenty of standard features such as audio streaming, Bluetooth connectivity, single port USB and auxiliary jack. In the range-topping trim, those standard features will be accompanied by TomTom navigation, dual front and rear USBs and cloud applications.
Subaru also improves comfort by reducing sound that can enter the cabin. It is possible thanks to the new side mirror shape, extra film insulation on the front-side glass, thicker apron under the rear wheels and refined suspension.
Engine of 2018 Subaru Legacy
Nothing is changed in the powertrain department. And, the engine lineup still consists of the 2.5i 2.5 L 4-cylinder boxer engine and 3.6R 3.6 L flat-six engine. While the 2.5i delivers 175 HP, the more powerful 3.6R churns out 256 HP. Automatic CVT gearbox with manual mode and paddle shifters is the only transmission offered.

Furthermore, just like usual, the all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring will come as standard in Legacy. The 2.5i engine will be available in the base, Premium, Sport and Limited trim. Meanwhile, the 3.6 R is reserved for the range-topping Limited trim only.
Unlike the new Impreza that is blessed with a new platform, 2018 Subaru Legacy will make do with the old one. However, it is not left untouched as the suspension will be retuned with dampers. As a result, the impact of bumps and body roll will be reduced, and the ride will be smoother.
2018 Subaru Legacy Release Date and Price
It is reported that the refreshed Subaru Legacy will arrive in the market this summer. Once it is launched, the updated Legacy will compete with the likes of Toyota Camry, Nissan Ultima, and Honda Accord.
