2018 Maserati Ghibli Facelift . 2018 Maserati Ghibli Gets True Facelift and V6 Engine with 450 HP.
Maserati Ghibli has just updated a few months ago for 2017 model year, but now the car is already prepared to get a mid-cycle facelift. The prototype of the facelifted Ghibli was recently spotted testing on the street with not heavy camouflage.
Some people might be confused why Maserati is so generous to give Ghibli a true facelift only a few months after it gets some updates. But this is not the first time Maserati does this kind of thing, though. What Maserati did to GranTurismo should be enough to show us that frequent updates is a thing in this Italian luxury brand and we should not be surprised if they apply the same treatment to their other cars.
2018 Maserati Ghibli Facelift Specifications
In terms of design, last year’s update didn’t give lots of changes to the Ghibli. But since this is the time for a real facelift, the car gets more new elements. From the spy shots, we can see clearly that the facelifted Ghibli gets a new bumper and lower trim that seems like heading to Peugeot 308 direction. Furthermore, the grille is also redesigned and now it has a fish-like shape. As for the rear, it is hard to figure out what new elements will go over there, but it seems like 2018 Ghibli will not get new taillights.
Now let’s move to the cabin. Last year’s update has brought plenty of good changes to the cabin, and it is possible the mid-cycle update will keep those elements. New cabin components from the last update include a new command nav that can accommodate bigger infotainment system. While that one is placed behind the shifter, USB, Aux and SD Card slots are located in front of it. Moreover, an 8.4” display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration is also added.
In addition to those new cabin components, the Ghibli also get the long list of active safety features, which is a new thing in Maserati. The driving assistance features in this car include adaptive cruise control with stop & go, blind side assistance, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and much more.

In terms of engine, 2017 update increased the power output of the 3.0 L twin turbo V6 engine by 20 HP, from 330 HP to 350 HP and 367-pound feet (500 Nm) of torque at 4,500 RPM. To know what kind of improvement the facelifted Maserati Ghibli will get in the powertrain department, we can consult the brand’s 2018 engine grid that was released by the company back in 2014.
The 350 HP V6 engine with the rear-wheel drive will still be available. And, it becomes the base model of the lineup. The next in the lineup is the performance version of the 3.0 L V6 engine that will be available in SQ 4 trim. While the power is rated at 410 HP in the last update, the mid-cycle facelift will increase the power of the performance version by 40 ponies to 450 HP.
The report also suggests that a V8 engine with 560+ HP might be on the line. But considering the brand’s financial condition, it is best not to expect anything.
