2018 Hyundai Accent — The prototype of 2018 Hyundai Accent has been spotted testing in Spain’s public road. Considering that the fourth generation of the subcompact sedan has been around since 2010. It is about time for the South Korean automaker to prepare a replacement.
There are some interesting things about the Accent’s next generation. Firstly, the fact that the car is tested in Spain might be a hint that the car could make a comeback to Europe market. As we know, Hyundai Accent was discontinued in Europe due to low sale performance.
When it comes to the sedan, European buyers always prefer something that offers more space, and as a result, small sedan like Accent doesn’t stand a chance in that region. Besides, Hyundai has made a good profit from Elantra, so the company saw no point in continuing the smaller sedan. If 2018 Hyundai Accent really will make its way to Europe, this car is going to be the cheapest in Hyundai’s sedan lineup. Moreover, it will also probably be sold in Russia as Solaris and in its hometown, South Korea as Verna.
2018 Hyundai Accent Specifications
The most noteworthy improvement in 2018 Accent is its size. Even though we cannot see it clearly from the spy shots, the car is actually wider and longer with the increase in size goes mostly to the wheelbase. Consequently, the new car will provide more room for the rear passenger. And, probably slightly larger trunk, which will make the vehicle more appealing to European buyers.
Regarding the visual cues, the next generation Accent borrows many elements from Hyundai i30. In fact, it is really easy to spot i30’s side mirrors and taillights on the new car. But the similarities stop there. Despite of the camouflage, we can still clearly see that the front fascia of the sedan is pointier than the i30. Furthermore, while i30 comes with 5-lug wheels, Accent is graced by 4-lug wheels.
No words out yet regarding the powertrain. But, it seems like the new 2018 Hyundai Accent will bring the engine from its predecessor that is the 1.4 L and 1.6 L Gamma mill. Furthermore, a new 1.0 Kappa turbo engine is also possible to join the lineup. In some markets, diesel engine will also be available and probably, the turbo diesel engine will be paired to a dual clutch gearbox.
There is no official release date yet. But, we can expect 2018 Hyundai Accent to commence sale by the end of 2017. Further updates will probably be revealed sometime next year.
