2018 Ford Focus wagon . If ugliness can materialize into a development mule, the early prototype of 2018 Ford Focus wagon is a frontrunner candidate. We don’t know what Ford was thinking when sending the wagon’s test mule to the street. It is also pretty hard to give a good description of how the prototype looks like, but funny is an understatement. Just take a look at the spy shots, and you can be the judge.
So, from the spy shots, it is not that hard to conclude what Ford was trying to do to mask the testing mule. The prototype features the body of the current Focus hatchback that is greatly modified. But the body is just a mask as the real deal is underneath. Covered under the current Focus hatchback skin is the platform and running gear of the next generation Focus hatchback.
2018 Ford Focus wagon Specifications
Well, of course, there is nothing wrong about the body of the current Focus hatchback combined with the platform of the next generation. The design of the current Focus is satisfying, and there are a lot of promising rumors about the next-generation Focus. But when it comes to the wagon’s prototype, Ford is trying too hard to hide so many details under hideous elements.
For instance, the rear looks like its melting and out of place that it seems ready to bid farewell with the rest of the body anytime, not to mention the additional metals that are attached here and there between different body parts.
It seems like Ford did everything in their power to hide the wider and longer body of the new wagon. But, they forgot not to make the prototype looks ridiculous. Oh, they even give this test mule a nickname and call it Elvis. If you take a closer look to the rear, you can see the ‘Elvis’ sticker pasted near the license plate.
See, instead of using the current Focus hatchback body with lots of weird metal treatments, it will be much simpler if Ford covers the new Focus platform under the current wagon body. But maybe Ford has a reason to do what they did, who knows?.
