Engine details — 2018 Ford F-150
The PowerStroke diesel unit is certainly the most noteworthy member of 2018 Ford F-150 engine lineup. The 3.0 L V6 diesel mill will be paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission and is claimed to have the best tow ratings among other F-150 trims.
No spec details have been announced. But since Powerstroke is a version of Lion diesel engine that Ford made for Rovers, it is safe to say that F-150 diesel will have similar power output with Range Rover’s 254 HP and 440-pound feet of torque.
If this is true, F-150 and its PowerStroke engine will be a capable rival to Ram 1500’s Eco-Diesel V6 that churns out 240 HP and 420-pound feet of torque.

Besides the new diesel engine, other engines in the lineup will also be upgraded. First of all, the 3.5 L V6 engine in the previous model will be ditched and replaced by smaller 3.3 L V6 unit. The new engine will be accompanied by port and direct fuel injection; hence it will generate the similar number of power output (282 HP and 253-pound feet of torque) with the engine it replaces.
In addition to the new 3.3 L V6, 2.7 L EcoBoost V6, 5.0 L V8 and 3.5L Ecoboost V6 twin turbo engine will also join new F-150’s powertrain lineup. While the 3.3 L V6 unit will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, it is reported that the others will be paired to 10-speed automatic transmission.
