2018 Citroen DS7 Cross SUV Might Arrive in the US. A new Citroen DS7 SUV was recently spotted testing on the snowy road. Citroen is currently planning to expand its DS model to the growing SUV market. And, the new DS7 is the automaker’s effort to compete with other established SUV brands. Besides to enter the competitive SUV market, the French automaker also will use this car to bring the brand back to the US shore.
2018 Citroen DS7 Cross Specifications
DS7 brings some promising elements such as an advanced suspension just like what the upcoming Citroen C4 Cactus will have. Furthermore, it is reported that 2018 Citroen DS7 Cross will provide more comfort compared to other SUVs in its class. The car will be underpinned by EMP2 platform, which is also used in Peugeot 3008 and it will also share some similar components with 3008
The prototype that was caught in the spy shots were heavily covered with vinyl camouflage. As a result, it was difficult to catch the visual details of the new 2018 DS7. However, it is obvious that it is larger and longer than the current DS, it is a full-blown SUV anyway.
As a matter of fact, reports suggest that the new DS will be at least 4.4 meters (around 173 inches) in length. In addition to the growing size, we can also spot the tall doors, and the roof is also clearly raised. Those elements indicate that this model will offer more spacious cabin, and probably boot space.
For the exterior, DS7 cross 2018 probably will borrow some visual elements from DS Wild Rubis concept. However, the same treatment will not go to the cabin. Instead of adopting the concept’s luxury cabin, DS7 will feature subtle design, but it definitely will still be stylish.
The automaker has not revealed exact details on the engine lineup. However, since the car is based on 3008, we can expect DS7 to have similar powertrain with the Peugeot car. It means we might say hello again to the familiar 1.2 L 3-cylinder petrol engine and the more potent 1.6 L unit. Those engines churn out 129 HP and 163 HP respectively.
Meanwhile, in the oil burner side, 2018 Citroen DS7 Cross could have the 1.6 L unit with 98 HP and the 2.0 L with 178 HP. While the first will be the most economical model in the lineup, the latter will be in charge of heavy duty work. It is reported that the 1.6 L engine will return around 70 mpg.
As for the transmission, all engines probably will be paired to a traditional automatic transmission. The old automated manual gearbox might be completely ditched. Besides, all-wheel drive system also is available but in plugin hybrid configuration, which means an electric motor will be in charge to send power to one of the axles.
2018 Citroen DS7 Cross Price and Release Date
The new Citroen DS7 2018 is set to enter production in 2018. And, it is reported that the car will be built in France. It will hit dealerships in late 2018 or at least early 2019. No words yet on pricing but it will probably start at £25,000 for the entry-level model and £35,000 for range-topping one.
