The 2018 BMW M550i xDrive, The Ultimate 5 Series Yet. BMW may be widely known as one of the most popular luxury cars out there in the market, and it’s not without reason. BMW has long been on the top of the car manufacturing industry since 1972, almost every series it has launched are sold at an impressive number, no wonder a lot of people wait for the next releases to see what the brand will come up with.
Fortunately for these people, BMW has announced that they are gearing up to release the ultimate model from their infamous 5-Series sport sedan dubbed the M550i xDrive.
The downfall of this announcement? The fact that it will not be released until 2018 – a lot of people have to contain their excitement until then, but they do not have to wait longer to quench their thirst. Keep reading to get to know more about the M550i xDrive.
The ultimate 5-series car
BMW’s 5-series is, without a doubt, the most success executive sport car in the industry. Not only is the 5-series a lineup of impressive masterpieces in the form of sport sedans, but the 5-series is also equipped with the magnificent performance.
So what is this BMW non-M 5-series look like? A lot like its predecessors, the M550i xDrive features sharp accents on the front corner that, along with the mirror caps, grille surround, and much more have a stunning Cerium Grey Metallic finish. The difference is, this latest M550i xDrive does not have the signature chrome trim around its windows. Instead, the M550i xDrive completed the look with a Shadow Line trim that is high glossed. Another feature that its predecessors do not own is an M Sports exhaust system. This system also includes sleek and high-glossed black tips.
If you think the 5-series is beautiful, wait until you see the latest M550i xDrive. With a much more aggressive and aesthetically refined rear fascia, the M550i xDrive has these beautifully sculpted corners. And strays from the 5-series signature round exhaust outlet, the M550i xDrive looks much more sophisticated with its rectangular exhaust outlet.
New performance to match the new exterior
The M550i xDrive is available with multi-contour seats (as opposed to the signature sport seats) and a full suite of connectivity solutions and driver aids that are guaranteed to amp up the comfort and convenience, but is it the only upgrades in this new model? The short answer is no.
The more detailed answer? While BMW has not yet released the output figures for the engine of this masterpiece, it’s said that the M550i xDrive will be powered by a 4.4 liter V8 just like its predecessor. Although the M550i xDrive is said to benefit from a 480-pound-feet of torque as well as the 456 horsepower – making it possible for the latest 5-Series to run above 60mph in 4 seconds.
Another word on the street is, the most recent M550i will also be equipped with a high precision fuel injection system, dual VANOS timing control, two twin-scroll turbochargers, and eight-speed transmission that will automatically shift.
It’s not yet known when exactly the M550i will be released, and how much it will cost, perhaps we should wait a little longer for BMW to release the information and open its order books.
