2018/2019 Jaguar E-Pace . Jaguar has succeeded in taking over the SUV market with its super popular F-Pace. In its first year, the car managed to jump to the top of the chart, and an impressive number of 45,973 units have been sold last year, which covered 30% of the brand’s sales in 2016.
Thanks to F-Pace, Jaguar is on fire, and it is very confident of its capability of developing excellent SUV. This is probably why the British automaker is currently preparing two other SUVs. The first one is the I-Pace electric SUV that was previewed as a concept at LA Auto show last year.
Meanwhile, the second one is Jaguar E-Pace, which will be positioned right below F-Pace. E-Pace is currently in its advanced stage of development, and it recently caught testing again at Nurburgring.
2018 Jaguar E-Pace Specifications
The huge amount of camouflage cannot hide the car’s proportion, which is clearly similar with its older sibling F-Pace. However, it is also very clear that the E-Pace has a more athletic body with muscular body lines and chiseled profile. Overall, the styling doesn’t go too far from F-Pace with rectangular grille and 5-door style.
Meanwhile, the cabin will probably come with the brand’s latest InControl infotainment system. 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, as well as rotary dial gear selector.
The automaker has yet to say anything regarding the powertrain, but it is very likely that the lineup will consist of a 2.0 L diesel with 161 HP. That’s another more powerful 2.0 L diesel unit as well as Land Rover’s Ingenium inline-4 engine.
The chance is high that the Ingenium engine will be the most potent in the lineup and nothing larger will join the list. However, it is reported that Jaguar is currently considering the possibility of equipping E-Pace with the brand’s new inline-3 engine that could also come in the Land Rover.
The engine will be paired to either JLR’s 6-speed manual transmission or 8-speed automatic gearbox. The hybrid powertrain is also on the menu, but it will not be available at launch.
Since it is said that the new 2018 E-Pace is underpinned by the latest version of Land Rover’s LR-MS platform, the car will come standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive can be optioned too. Speaking of the LR-MS platform, it debuted in 2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport, and besides E-Pace, it will also underpin the new Range Rover Evoque, and probably a new model from Jaguar’s parent company, Tata.
The fact that E-Pace uses this platform is interesting considering the car’s compact proportion and the fact that the platform is used in larger models.
2018 Jaguar E-Pace Price and Release Date
It seems like Jaguar E-Pace 2018 will be ready for its debut later this year or early next year. There is no news yet when the car will arrive in the market, but let’s expect the sale to commence sometime in 2018 as 2019 model. When it comes to the market, this Jaguar’s new compact SUV will compete with BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, Audi Q3 as well as the upcoming Volvo XC40.
