2017 Porsche 911 RSR — Porsche Unveiled Sketch Teaser of New Porsche 911 RSR. This year’s Los Angeles Auto Show will be a big event for Porsche since this German automaker will reveal all its highly anticipated new creations.
Along with new Panamera and its long wheelbase version, Panamera Executive, Porsche also will use this event to reveal new Porsche 911 RSR. To increase public’s curiosity, Porsche cleverly unveiled a sketch teaser of its new racing car.
2017 Porsche 911 RSR Specifications
The 2017 Porsche 911 RSR sketch is in black and white ( see carscoops.com website). And, it only reveals the side profile of the car. Furthermore, the manufacturer still stays completely silent regarding what upgrades that will come in the new Porsche 911 RSR. But if there is one most noteworthy hint that we can take from the sketch, it is definitely the intakes.
It is not that hard to catch that the air intakes in the sketch are larger than what comes in the current version. Therefore, two possibilities come with this change. Firstly, the bigger air intakes probably were just made to improve cooling. However, there is also a possibility that the car will get the new turbocharged flat-six engine.
Let’s refresh our memory about the outgoing version first. The Porsche 911 RSR current model is powered by the naturally aspirated flat-six engine that delivers 464 bhp. Power is sent to the rear wheels. This engine performs well, so the chance is high that it will make a comeback in the new 911 RSR. But the point is, no matter which engine will be chosen for this new car, it seems very likely that Porsche will give some boost of power to the new car.
This is especially important because other racing cars in this class, like Ford GT LME for example, can almost touch 500 bhp. To improve the performance, even more, it is also possible that this car is going to be mid-engined. It is still unknown what changes will be made so the engine can be shifted forward.

But one thing for sure, the mid-engine configuration will be necessary to improve balance and grip. Hence the car can compete better in GTE class with the likes of Ferrari 488 GTE. The sketch also suggests the aerodynamic improvement, as hinted by the higher mounted rear wing and bigger rear diffuser.
2017 Porsche 911 RSR Coming out date
Everything about new Porsche 911 RSR will be revealed in November 16th LA Auto Show. Following its debut, it is very likely that this racing car will go straight to FIA World End Championships and both European and Asian Le Mans circuits.
