Features, Exterior, and Interior
Team Peugeot Total is behind the SUV. This 2017 Peugeot 3008 DKR car is the successor of 2008 DKR that wins the previous Dakar Rally driven by Stephane Peterhansel. The entire design is actually based on a standard SUV model to be revealed this year. Several modifications are made to match requirement on the rally.
First, we can see the wheel arches are swollen a little bit to accommodate the huge rally tires. There is no front bumper, and its front grille is made slimmer than the standard. The suspension has been modified due to regulations on the rally featuring new dampers and geometry.
As mentioned by the director of the team, Bruno Famin, weaknesses have been upgraded, and its strength stays. Due to the change, the air restrictor is now cut from 39 mm to 38 mm. The interior hasn’t been revealed, but it is mentioned to carry supportive features for the drivers for the rally.
Under the hood, this rally SUV is still using the same engine, twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter of the V6 diesel engine. Until the announcement is leaked, there is no official and specific performance figures to find out. It looks like Peugeot has some surprises for us, though.

2017 Peugeot 3008 DKR Price and Debut Date
There is no word on its pricing. Commonly, there will be no specific pricing for event car like this one. The standard version of this car, the new SUV of the brand, should be revealed in Paris Motor Show event this month. Meanwhile, this car should make the first debut during Morocco Rally, driven by Carlos Sainz. Next, this car will join the Dakar Rally event on January 2, 2017, with drivers like Sainz, Stephane Peterhansel, and Sebastien Loeb is driving the cars.
Even though it uses brand’s latest SUV model, this rally car seems like a different car. It has the best look, and the performance is supposed to be awesome as well.
