2017 Lamborghini Huracan Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder Specifications. The new rear-wheel drive version of Lamborghini Huracan Spyder has been launched at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show. It comes with some similarities, especially regarding powertrain, with its hard top sibling, LP 580-2 coupe that was launched one year ago in the same show.
As has been clarified by Lamborghini, the steering, suspension, stability control, and all other features have been adjusted for rear-wheel drive. Furthermore, the LP naming is no longer used in this model.
2017 Lamborghini Rear-Wheel Drive Huracan Spyder Specifications
Exterior, Interior design
The 2017 Lamborghini RWD Huracan Spyder design is pretty much the same with its LP 580-2 coupe sibling. The most noteworthy difference is certainly on the folding top. The roof opens and closes in 17 seconds, and can be operated up to 31 mph speed. The car rolls on 19” Kari wheels wrapped by Pirelli P Zero Tires.
The visual changes in the nose part are mainly dedicated to increasing downforce, which is necessary because Lamborghini Huracan Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder is around 70 pounds lighter compared to the All-Wheel-Drive LP 610-4. Due to the changes in weight, the weight distribution is now shifted to 40/60 front/rear.
Engine — Lamborghini Huracán LP580-2 Spyder 2017
Just like LP 580-2 coupe, Lamborghini Rear-Wheel Drive Huracan Spyder is powered by the detuned version of naturally aspirated 5.2 L V10 engine with all powers transferred to the wheel drive through a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. This engine delivers 571 HP or 462 kW at 8,000 RPM and 398 pound-feet of torque or 540 Nm at 6,500 RPM.
Even though the 70-pound weight loss has made the car more nimble, but the lack of All-Wheel Drive still affects the speed of the car. While the top speed is still impressive at 198 mph, the 0-62 mph time is only at 3.6 seconds. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that number, and it is still very fast.

However, 3.6 seconds is around one-second slower compared to the All-Wheel Drive Huracan LP 610-4 and even to LP 580-2 coupe. But with all other features that support the performance, you probably will not notice the slightly slower speed.
2017 Lamborghini Rear-Wheel Drive Huracan Spyder Release Date and Price
Lamborghini Huracan Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder will be launched sometime in 2017. The official pricing has yet to be announced but probably we will hear about it soon when the car is ready to hit the market. But just for comparison, the RWD LP580-2 coupe is $37,000 cheaper compared to the AWD LP 610-4. So, maybe the price will not be too far from that.
