Justin Thompson, GM Australia’s exterior design manager, told the press that Barina is currently trying to expand its brand appeal to the young adult market. Therefore, the company focuses on giving more modern and attractive exterior as well as more comfortable interior to the updated 2017 Holden Barina subcompact car.
Both the rear and the front fascia are restyled. And, as a result of the exterior now looks sportier and more athletic. This sporty look is also backed up by the new grille and new LED daytime running light. Furthermore, the entry level LS gets 16” alloy wheels while the highest-end LT is graced by a set of 17” alloy wheels.
To improve customer’s driving experience and to make the car more appealing to the younger market, updated Barina gets Apple Car Play and Android Auto smartphone integration along with a 7” touchscreen infotainment system, rearview camera and Rear Park Sensor, automatic headlight and also LED daytime running light.
Meanwhile, the range-topping LT gets additional features. That’s include keyless ignition, leather steering wheel, Push Button Start and very comfortable heated front seats.
Engine Changes — 2017 Holden Barina Facelift
All models from the new upgraded 2017 Holden Barina entry-level LS Facelift to the range-topping LT are powered with 1.6 L naturally aspirated petrol unit which is also powered the 2016 model. Furthermore, with 85 kW and 155 Nm (114-pound feet) of torque, the power output also remains the same with last year’s model.
Probably since Holden puts more attention on revamping the looks, they leave the engine just the way it is. But it seems like it won’t be a big problem since the current powertrain is sufficient for this class.
