2017 Bentley Continental Supersports Is a 700 HP Beast. Bentley recently revealed 2017 Bentley Continental Supersports, one night before 2017 Detroit Auto Show began. Churning out 700 HP and 750 pound-feet of torque, the newest Continental Supersports becomes the fastest and most powerful Continental in history.
According to Paul Bentley, the director of Bentley’s product management, the first generation of Continental Supersports is a huge success. It is so popular that it deserves to claim a cult status. As a consequent, the British automaker did not hesitate to produce new Continental Supersports even though the current generation of Continental almost reached the end of its life cycle.
“It’s positioned as sort of a pinnacle grand tourer. It’s the ultimate balance of luxury and performance,” he added.
2017 Bentley Continental Supersports Specifications
The new 2017 Bentley Continental Supersports receives plenty of carbon fiber treatment both on the exterior and interior. Outside, both the front and bumper of the car is redesigned, accentuated by carbon fiber splitter and diffuser. In addition to the new bumper, the car also gets new side sill exterior, front wing vents with gloss black finish and restyled hood vents, again in carbon fiber finish.
Moreover, Bentley also offers plenty of options to personalize the car such as the X Specification package. This package provides eight options of one-of-a-kind dual tone body paints as well as optional carbon fiber mirrors and 21” wheels.
Inside, the owner will be pampered with new dashboard trim that features suede, leather, and carbon fiber materials. Neck warmers are also available to keep everybody warm when riding the convertible with the top down.
Furthermore, the car also features lower and stiffer suspension and carbon fiber aerodynamic kit. Thanks to the carbon fiber treatment all around the car, 2017 Continental Supersports is 80 pounds lighter than GT Speed.
Engine – 2017 Bentley Continental Supersports Coupe and Convertible
This new 2017 Bentley Continental Supersports is powered by Bentley’s 6.0 L twin-turbo W-12 engine paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels with 40/60 front/rear split. With 700 HP and 750-pound feet of torque, this car has 67 more HP and 130 more torque compared to Continental GT Speed.
It is also even stronger than some of its main competitors such as the brand new Mercedes-Maybach S650 Cabriolet (621 HP and 738-pound feet of torque) and Rolls Royce Wrath Black Badge Edition (624 HP and 642-pound feet of torque). The additional power is courtesy of larger turbochargers and more potent cooling system.
