New 2017 Alpine 110 Finally Debuts at Geneva. After such a long wait with plenty of rumors and teasers that tickled our curiosity, the highly anticipated new Alpine 110 is finally unveiled at Geneva Motor Show in its production guise. This mid-engined 2-seat sports car was revealed as Alpine Vision concept at the same show last year, and 1,955 units of the special Premiere Edition has even been sold out. 55 years have passed since Alpine 110 shook the automotive world, and this modern rendition really does justice to the original model.
2017 Alpine A110 Specifications
This fabulous rival of Porsche 718 Cayman looks perfect from the outside. Overall, it looks identical to the Alpine Vision concept we saw last year, and at the same time, it stays true to its original Berlinetta design and cleverly combined with some modern elements. As a result, even though this car looks modern, we can still clearly see that it is the original Alpine at its heart.
2017 Alpine 110 features plenty of aerodynamic design elements such as functional diffuser as well as the flat floor. The exterior looks stunning and all, but the magic is actually inside. The cabin is graced by some high-quality elements such as aluminum, carbon fiber trim and of course leather. Furthermore, it also comes with one-piece bucket seats that elevate the sporty vibe of the car.
In addition, the new Alpine also features the cockpit design from the Alpine concept that includes the center console, digital instrument panel, infotainment screen, and last but not least, the beautiful quilted leather here and there.
Power comes from a 1.8 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that delivers 249 hp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox, sending power exclusively to the rear wheels. The car has a top speed of 155 mph, and it can sprint to 62 mph from a complete still in only 4.5 seconds. In this department, Alpine 110 triumphs even the Cayman S since the 0-62 mph time is a tenth faster than the latter.
It is reported that the sportier version Alpine Renaultsport is currently developed and it will offer 300 bhp. The extra power is possible thanks to some adjustment to the ECU as well as the better cooling system. Alpine Renaultsport will get the additional cooling system in the doors and larger ones at the front.
Exterior changes will come along with the extra ponies. It is reported that to make Alpine Renaultsport looks sportier and more aggressive, the wheel arches will be enlarged to accommodate bigger tires, which in turn will improve grip and stability. In addition, the alloy wheel design will also be changed, and cross-hatched LED will be added to distinguish the sporty model with the standard one.
2017 Alpine A110 Price and Release Date
2017 Alpine 110 will go on sale in the UK in spring next year, and the price will start at £50,000. The Renaultsport version will follow soon after the standard model commences sale. So, let’s expect the sportier model to arrive in the first half of 2018 with around £60,000 price tag.
